Supervision of Counsellors & Psychotherapists - Trauma Informed Supervision

Trauma Informed Supervision, helping you grow
Trauma Informed Supervision - Helping you grow

As counsellors or psychotherapists, we are human beings like our clients, not blank slates. We all have different life experiences and are impacted in different ways, in fact many of us are impacted by childhood trauma (Developmental Trauma) and are attracted to this line of work because of how we've been impacted. Our experiences along with helping survivors of trauma can be difficult and I accept we all have triggers, hotspots, stressors, prickly parts that can be re-enacted within the work. Its important to me that the space I offer you is safe enough to acknowledge this so you can be the best therapist for your clients.

Having lived experience of childhood trauma, of studying modern trauma theory and learning how my practice must be different for survivors of trauma, I believe strongly this must be reflected in how I supervise supervisees who are survivors of trauma and their clinical work with clients affected by trauma.

Trauma Informed Supervision is relational, it is a reciprocal relationship, where both voices are listened to and where both matter. I aim to offer a safe, collaborative, transparent, communicative, appreciation and respect to help mutual learning. This is important in the context of trauma when helplessness, powerlessness, hopelessness and stuckness are common.
