Clinical Supervision
Are you seeking an experienced and highly qualified Clinical Supervisor to support you with your client work - do you help adults, couples and adults affected by childhood trauma?
I have 25 years of clinical practice and experience of working in different settings, as well as supervising other therapists who work in different settings too. I'm also a qualified supervisor, and I achieved a Diploma in Supervision in 2015, and I've recently returned to supervising following a few years break to concentrate on my couples therapy practice. I'm also a Trauma Informed (trained) Therapist and Supervisor, and have extensive experience and knowledge of adults impacted by extreme trauma as a child. Whilst I don't draw upon the Medical Model of Diagnosis and labelling, I'm aware of Dissociative Identity Disorder (DID), Complex Trauma PTSD (CPTSD) and Borderline Personality Disorder having helped adults with these diagnosis or symptoms of.
First and foremost, I see my supervisees as human beings, as individuals with history's and lives outside of their work, my job as your supervisor is to support you to be the therapist you want to be, to manage your work/life balance so you can be fulfilled and therefore, help your clients professionally and ethically.
As I'm a BACP registered and accredited therapist, I follow their ethical guidelines. I also supervise following the 7 eyed model of Hawkins and Shohet, which is a relational approach and takes into consideration; our relationship, your relationship with your client, your process, your clients process, the wider context, your interventions
All therapists are different, as are supervisors and we all have different personalities and styles of supervising and we're not 'right' for everyone. It's important I provide you with safety, a warm manner, knowledge and humour as well as some gentle challenge or curiosity at times too. I like to supervise taking into consideration lots of different approaches and mainly attachment theory, transference and counter transference, modern trauma knowledge including neuroscience/neurobiology and some knowledge of IFS and parts work. My early initial training was in The Person-Centred Approach and I incorporate this relational way of being into my work as a practitioner in terms of how I place effort into my relationship with you.
